UpTrust

Recently, our office and public defender offices statewide have employed the UpTrust system.  UpTrust sends text notifications to clients automatically from court dates entered into our database for your case.  In addition to the automated notices, you will have the ability, as will your attorney, to communicate by text about pending court dates and other matters.  Given the system, it is important to keep in mind the following:  1) is it VERY IMPORTANT that we have a CURRENT AND CORRECT PHONE NUMBER for you and any others you would like to receive notices of your court dates to ensure you receive the texts and do not miss court, 2) BE IN CONTACT WITH YOUR ATTORNEY, just because you receive an automated text does not necessarily mean you will have to attend the hearing, your attorney may inform you that you do not need to attend but you must attend if you have not heard from them otherwise, and 3) DO NOT ASSUME IT IS CONFIDENTIAL, while our end of the communication will be confidential, the texts will be sent to your phone and could be, under the correct circumstances, obtained by law enforcement.  So, do not discuss the specifics of your case involving confidential information over text.  ONLY DISCUSS CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION IN PERSON WITH YOUR ATTORNEY OR BY PHONE CALL (NOT TEXT).  More information about the UpTrust system can be found here.
